January 10, 2022 – Renfrew County Residents Are Reminded That Emergency Departments Are for Urgent Care, Not Asymptomatic COVID-19 Testing or The Treatment of Mild COVID-19 Symptoms

January 10, 2022 ‐ With increased community transmission of COVID-19 and in particular, the new Omicron variant of concern, Renfrew County hospitals are also seeing an increase in the number of asymptomatic residents presenting at local Emergency Departments for a COVID-19 test or for the treatment of mild cold-like symptoms which are likely an indication they have the virus.

December 26, 2021 – RCDHU Declares COVID-19 Outbreak at St. Joseph’s Catholic School Arnprior and Walter Zadow Public School

December 26, 2021 ‐ Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) in collaboration with the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) and the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB) is confirming that a total of 11 staff and students at St. Joseph’s Catholic School Arnprior, and 6 students at Walter Zadow Public School in multiple cohorts have tested positive for COVID-19. The outbreak at St. Joseph’s Catholic School Arnprior was declared on December 21st while the Walter Zadow Public School outbreak was declared on December 24th. There was a delay in putting out this media release due to technical difficulties that RCDHU experienced earlier in the week.

December 24, 2021 – RCDHU and Province of Ontario Implementing a Surge Support Model

December 24, 2021 ‐ The proportion of Omicron cases are rising rapidly across Ontario, including 2 confirmed and 15 suspect cases in Renfrew County and District (RCD) today and a total of 85 new cases reported over the past 7 days.

December 13 – The Importance of Vaccinating Children Aged 5 to 11

December 13, 2021 ‐ Over 1,500 children across Renfrew County and District (RCD), aged 5 to 11 have received the COVID-19 vaccine. “While this is great news, only an additional 1,000 of the remaining 6,000 children who are eligible have been registered for vaccination in December,” states Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health, Renfrew County and District Health Unit. “Many spots are available, and we encourage families to sign up,” continues Dr. Cushman.

December 8, 2021 – RCDHU Declares COVID-19 School-Related Outbreak at Champlain Discovery Public School

December 8, 2021 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU), in collaboration with the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB), is confirming that an additional student from Champlain Discovery Public School in Pembroke has tested positive for COVID-19.

December 6, 2021 – RCDHU Declares COVID-19 School-Related Outbreaks on Bus Routes and Highview Public School

December 6, 2021 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) in collaboration with the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) and the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) are confirming that additional students from Highview Public School and Champlain Discovery Public School in Pembroke have tested positive for COVID-19.

December 2, 2021 – RCDHU Declares COVID-19 Outbreak at Valour JK-12 School

December 2, 2021 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) in collaboration with the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) is confirming that one additional student from Valour JK12 School in Petawawa has tested positive for COVID-19.

December 1 2021 – RCDHU Confirms One Student Tests Positive For COVID-19 at Highview Public School

December 1, 2021 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU), in collaboration with the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB), is confirming that an additional student from Highview Public School in Pembroke has tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to three positive cases at the school.

December 1, 2021 – RCDHU Shares Good News Regarding the COVID-19 Exposure During Field Exercise at Garrison Petawawa

December 1, 2021 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is reporting that there has been no evidence of community transmission of COVID-19 from the exposure during the field exercise at Garrison Petawawa. All additional cases have been reported to be household contacts of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members who were already in self-isolation as per RCDHU’s direction. RCDHU continues to monitor the outbreak to ensure that all necessary measures are in place.

November 30, 2021 – RCDHU Reports Increased Community Transmission of COVID-19 – Residents to Remain Vigilant

November 30, 2021 ‐ Throughout the month of November, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has seen increased community transmission of COVID-19), reporting 63 confirmed cases of COVID19 across Renfrew County and District (RCD). This is more than double the number of cases reported in October 2021 (29 cases), with nearly half of cases residing in the City of Pembroke, Township of Laurentian Valley, or Township of Petawawa. As a result, more than 500 high-risk contact investigations have been opened by RCDHU staff, resulting in an average of 8 highrisk contacts per 1 confirmed COVID-19 case in RCD. “
