February 2, 2022 – Technical Issue with Local Booking System Creates In-valid Vaccination Appointments – Only Pembroke and Deep River Clinics Booking Appointments

February 2, 2022 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is acknowledging a technical issue with the previous booking system that has allowed some residents to book appointments in the month of February. Any resident with an appointment scheduled within the month of February must have booked through the provincial booking system ONLY. Please discard any appointment booked on the previous booking system through the RC VTAC website for February. RCDHU apologizes for any inconvenience.

January 27, 2022 – RCDHU Announces Move from Local COVID-19 Vaccination Booking System to Provincial Booking System

January 27, 2022 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is announcing the move from the local COVID-19 vaccination booking system to the provincial vaccination booking system.

January 26, 2022 – RCDHU Participating in Provincial Contact Centre Auto Dial Calls for Booster Doses

January 26, 2022 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is confirming that residents who have not received a booster dose, and it has been greater than 84 days since their second dose, will receive an automated call from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Moore. This automated call is part of the provincial campaign to encourage individuals to pursue a booster dose COVID-19 vaccination appointment.

January 17, 2022 – GO-VAXX Bus Coming to Renfrew County and District

January 17, 2022 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is announcing that the GO-VAXX Bus which hosts mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics is coming to Renfrew County and District (RCD).

January 15, 2022 – Statement of Support from Renfrew County and District Health Unit Medical Officer of Health Regarding the Return to School

January 15, 2022 ‐ The Medical Officer of Health from Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has released a statement regarding the upcoming return to in-person learning for students and educators across the region.

January 10, 2022 – Renfrew County Residents Are Reminded That Emergency Departments Are for Urgent Care, Not Asymptomatic COVID-19 Testing or The Treatment of Mild COVID-19 Symptoms

January 10, 2022 ‐ With increased community transmission of COVID-19 and in particular, the new Omicron variant of concern, Renfrew County hospitals are also seeing an increase in the number of asymptomatic residents presenting at local Emergency Departments for a COVID-19 test or for the treatment of mild cold-like symptoms which are likely an indication they have the virus.

December 26, 2021 – RCDHU Declares COVID-19 Outbreak at St. Joseph’s Catholic School Arnprior and Walter Zadow Public School

December 26, 2021 ‐ Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) in collaboration with the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) and the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB) is confirming that a total of 11 staff and students at St. Joseph’s Catholic School Arnprior, and 6 students at Walter Zadow Public School in multiple cohorts have tested positive for COVID-19. The outbreak at St. Joseph’s Catholic School Arnprior was declared on December 21st while the Walter Zadow Public School outbreak was declared on December 24th. There was a delay in putting out this media release due to technical difficulties that RCDHU experienced earlier in the week.

December 24, 2021 – RCDHU and Province of Ontario Implementing a Surge Support Model

December 24, 2021 ‐ The proportion of Omicron cases are rising rapidly across Ontario, including 2 confirmed and 15 suspect cases in Renfrew County and District (RCD) today and a total of 85 new cases reported over the past 7 days.

December 13 – The Importance of Vaccinating Children Aged 5 to 11

December 13, 2021 ‐ Over 1,500 children across Renfrew County and District (RCD), aged 5 to 11 have received the COVID-19 vaccine. “While this is great news, only an additional 1,000 of the remaining 6,000 children who are eligible have been registered for vaccination in December,” states Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health, Renfrew County and District Health Unit. “Many spots are available, and we encourage families to sign up,” continues Dr. Cushman.
