May 27 – Expanded Community Testing for COVID-19

May 27, 2020 ‐ The County of Renfrew Paramedic Services will be making additional testing available at pre-scheduled testing site locations throughout Renfrew County and District in the coming weeks. Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health, states that he “encourages testing of any resident who is symptomatic or has concerns that they may have been exposed to COVID-19”.

May 22, 2020 – Resident at Riverview Heights Retirement Residence Tests Positive for COVID-19

May 22, 2020 ‐ Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is confirming that a resident at Riverview Heights Retirement Residence has tested positive for COVID-19. This result was found as part of RCDHU’s proactive strategy to identify asymptomatic cases in long-term care and retirement homes.

May 15, 2020 – Residents asked to wear masks where physical distancing is not possible

May 15, 2020 ‐ Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) would like to thank all residents for their continued efforts in keeping our community safe in the fight against COVID-19. As Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health states, “you are helping to keep the incidence at bay within our community, and we thank you for your participation, cooperation and enthusiasm.”

May 9, 2020 ‐ Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) staff have been working hard in response to the Ministry of Health’s requirement to complete COVID-19 testing for all staff and residents in Long Term Care Homes, Retirement Homes and operating Licensed Child Care Centres. On May 1st, the Ministry of Health announced that public health units were to coordinate this testing within their jurisdiction. April 17, 2020 – Government of Ontario Extends Emergency Order

April 17, 2020 ‐ Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) thanks residents for their ongoing support in the fight against COVID-19. “The actions being taken by all to stay home and practice physical distancing are making a difference,” said Dr. Robert Cushman, Medical Officer of Health at RCDHU. “I encourage everyone to continue doing all that we can to slow the spread of this deadly virus.”

April 7, 2020 – Stay home during the upcoming holidays

April 7, 2020 ‐ Let’s work together to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Renfrew County and District. We need to stay home, practice physical distancing, and avoid hosting events whether inside or outside, for people who do not already live with us. This means cancelling or postponing events such as Easter dinners and traditional ceremonies that often accompany these celebratory gatherings.

March 31, 2020- Five more confirmed COVID-19 case in Renfrew County and District

March 31, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) confirms five more positive laboratory-confirmed cases of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) throughout Renfrew County and District (RCD). That brings the total of confirmed cases in RCD to seven.

March 29, 2020 – RCDHU Reports Second Positive Case of COVID-19 in Renfrew County and District

March 29, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) confirms the second positive laboratory-confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) in Renfrew County and District. A woman in her 30s developed mild symptoms and was tested at home by paramedics of The County of Renfrew Community Paramedic Program on March 27, 2020. She currently remains at home on isolation and is being monitored.

March 29, 2020 – First COVID-19 related death in Renfrew County and District

March 29, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) confirms the first death related to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) in Renfrew County and District. A woman in her 90s passed away early on the morning of March 29, 2020, at Pembroke Regional Hospital.

March 27, 2020 – New pandemic healthcare service: Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre

March 27, 2020 ‐ In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre (RC VTAC) has launched today to strengthen access to primary care for all Renfrew County residents. https://youtu.be/i0954043Zu8
