December 27, 2020 – RCDHU Declares COVID-19 Outbreak at Algonquin College-Pembroke Campus Over
December 27, 2020 ‐ Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is declaring the COVID-19 outbreak at Algonquin College – Pembroke Campus over, effective Saturday evening, December 26th, 2020. RCDHU is confirming that no additional positive tests among students, staff, or close contacts at Algonquin College were received.
December 24, 2020 – RCDHU Update on Food Safety for Public Events
December 24, 2020 ‐ There has been a recent report to the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) of a food related event that was going to occur in the Arnprior area involving the serving of pre-cooked turkeys prepared at a private residence. A food safety investigation was conducted by a public health inspector. The investigation revealed that this event was not approved by the Health Unit and the food had not been prepared in accordance with safe food handling practices, creating a potential health hazard.
December 22, 2020 – RCDHU Issues Tickets for Not Adhering to Section 22 Order for Self-Isolation
December 22, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is informing the public that two tickets in the amount of $875.00 each, have been issued to residents for not adhering to the Section 22 Order put in place on Friday, October 30th, by Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health for the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU).
December 22, 2020 – RCDHU Confirms One Staff Member and One Student Test Positive For COVID-19
December 22, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is confirming that a staff member at Valour JK-12 School in Petawawa, and a student at Champlain Discovery Public School in Pembroke, have tested positive for novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
December 21, 2020 – RCDHU Update Regarding Provincewide Shutdown
December 21, 2020 ‐ Today, the Ontario Government announced the implementation of a provincewide shutdown, effective Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. The provincewide shutdown is divided by Northern Ontario and Southern Ontario; Renfrew County and District (RCD) is considered part of Southern Ontario.
December 20, 2020 – RCDHU Declares COVID-19 Outbreak at Pembroke Dental Office
December 20, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU), is confirming that three staff tested positive for COVID-19 at a Pembroke dental office. Two confirmed cases that are linked within the organization meets the provincial guideline for the declaration of a workplace outbreak. RCDHU is working closely with the Pembroke dental office to ensure necessary measures continue to be in place to protect all staff and the public.
December 17, 2020 – RCDHU Confirms a Staff Member at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School Tests Positive For COVID-19
December 17, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) in collaboration with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB), is confirming that a staff member at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School in Petawawa, has a positive laboratory-confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). All students and staff who have been deemed to be a close contact of the positive case, have been given direction to go home immediately to self-isolate and arrange for testing. The school remains open to in-person learning for all other students and staff.
December 15, 2020 – RCDHU Update on COVID-19 Outbreak in Whitewater Region
December 15, 2020 ‐ Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) would like to report that the significant outbreak in the Whitewater Region community is coming to a close. Today and yesterday, 44 of the 63 confirmed COVID-19 cases have completed the two-week isolation period. Fortunately, there was no serious illness requiring hospitalization amongst the individuals who tested positive for COVID-19.
December 13, 2020 – RCDHU Confirms a Student at Algonquin College – Pembroke Campus Tests Positive for COVID-19
December 13, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU), is confirming that a student linked to the current outbreak at Algonquin College – Pembroke Campus, has a positive laboratory-confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). All staff and students within this cohort were previously deemed high-risk contacts and had already been given direction to self-isolate and get tested
December 11, 2020 – RCDHU Declares COVID-19 Outbreak at Algonquin College – Pembroke Campus
December 11, 2020 ‐ Today, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU), is confirming that three staff at Algonquin College Pembroke Campus have tested positive for COVID-19. Only one of these individuals will be added to RCDHU's confirmed cases. The other two individuals will not be reported in RCDHU numbers, as these individuals reside in a jurisdiction outside of Renfrew County and District. All staff and/or students who have been deemed to be close contacts of the positive cases, have been given direction to immediately self-isolate and arrange for testing. Algonquin College - Pembroke Campus remains open for in-person learning and/or operations and has been working collaboratively with the Health Unit to continue operating under its safety protocols that limit face to face services and instruction.
