Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is sharing the linked media release from Northeastern Public Health, as there was an exposure to a case of measles identified on an Ontario Northland Bus that was travelling through Renfrew County on March 29, 2025.
The exposure sites in Renfrew County and District are as follows:
Location: Veteran’s Park, Cobden, Ontario
Date and Approximate Time of Exposure: March 29, 2025; 11:30 am to 2:00 pm
Location: Ontario Northland Bus From: Veteran’s Park in Cobden, Ontario Scheduled departure: 12:00 pm To: Bus Terminal in North Bay, Ontario Scheduled arrival: 3:15 pm
Date and Approximate Time of Exposure: March 29, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 3:15 pm
Location: Pronto, 3520 Petawawa Boulevard, Petawawa, Ontario Scheduled arrival: 1:00 pm; Scheduled departure: 1:15 pm
Date and Approximate Time of Exposure: March 29, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:15 pm
Any Renfrew County and District residents who think they may have been exposed at the above locations during the identified exposure times are asked to monitor for symptoms of measles until April 19. Symptoms of measles include:
- High fever, cough, runny nose
- Red, watery eyes
- Red rash that typically starts on the head and neck that then spreads downward to the chest, arms and legs
If you have been exposed and develop symptoms, stay home and do not attend work or school. Call your healthcare provider before being seen so that additional precautions can be taken.
Renfrew County and District residents who believe they have been exposed should check their immunization status. Anyone who has been exposed, was born in 1970 or later, and who does not have 2 doses of measles vaccine should call RCDHU at 613-732-3629 extension 0, or 1-800-267-1097 extension 0.
